Job Description
A security guard is responsible for protecting property, assets, and people by maintaining a safe and secure environment. They monitor and patrol premises, enforce rules and regulations, and respond to emergencies or suspicious activities.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Patrol assigned areas on foot or in a vehicle to monitor for suspicious activities or potential security breaches.
- Monitor surveillance equipment, such as cameras and alarms, to detect and respond to any unusual events.
- Control access to the premises by checking identification, issuing badges, and maintaining visitor logs.
- Enforce company or facility rules and regulations, including dress codes, parking policies, and safety procedures.
- Respond to alarms, emergencies, or distress signals by assessing the situation and taking appropriate action.
- Detain or apprehend violators or trespassers according to legal and company policies, and notify law enforcement if necessary.
- Write detailed reports of daily activities, incidents, and any irregularities observed during shifts.
- Provide assistance to individuals in need, such as offering first aid or directing them to appropriate resources.
- Conduct regular inspections of doors, windows, and other entry points to ensure they are secure.
- Monitor and regulate the flow of traffic in and out of the facility to prevent unauthorized access.
- Assist in the evacuation of the premises in case of fire, natural disasters, or other emergencies.
- Coordinate with law enforcement, fire departments, or other emergency services when required.
- Maintain a professional and courteous demeanor when interacting with employees, visitors, and the public.
- Perform routine maintenance checks on security equipment to ensure it is functioning properly.
- Stay updated on security protocols, procedures, and legal requirements to perform duties effectively.
